My Internet Marketing Blueprints! website is made up of several extensions meshed together to create a seamless design integration. Using extensions do cut down your programming and design effort. One of the pillar of object-oriented programming is to make your programming project modular. Extensions fit that bill.
There are 3 basic types of extensions in Joomla!
- Components
- Modules
- Mambots (Also known as plugins)
Most of the extensions in Joomla! are self-contained unless otherwise stated by the author. Some extensions require a related extension such as a component or mambot before it can be used in your website. You can publish or unpublish the extensions at your leisure and they will not cripple the overall aspect of your CMS website.
Extensions will definitely save your time to do more important stuff like managing the business aspect of marketing your website. You can keep the technical aspect of your business to the down low.
Below is a screenshot taken from the Joomla! Extensions page describing the different type of extensions.
